âThis yearâs BLE Product Showcase is a sophisticated retail outlet with products being displayed as they would in-store, including Matthew Williamson wallpaper backdrops, homeware displayed beautifully, clothing hung on rails ready for browsing⊠everything in the âstoreâ will be product that retailers can sell,â said Anna Knight, brand director, BLE.
âBy shining a light on the sheer variety and diversity of licensed products from this area of the industry we can show retailers just how innovative brands and licensees are and inspire and encourage them to think about stocking new â and wider â ranges.â
From the museum/heritage sector, for example, Historic Royal Palaces will showcase items from The Palace Collection with Hobbs, launching autumn 2017, as well as licensed ranges from their homewares partners; Natural History Museum has donated a range of greeting cards, which has been produced in partnership with Moonpig; V&A and IWM have submitted giftware.
Jenny Smyth, licensing manager, Historic Royal Palaces, said: âWe are delighted to feature in this yearâs product showcase at Brand Licensing Europe. It is a great opportunity for us to present our new collaborations and collections of palace inspired designs from our licensees. This includes high-street fashion retailer Hobbs and homewares licensee Turtle Mat as well as GP & J Baker, who joined the Historic Royal Palaces licensing programme in 2016 and have since launched a very successful, award winning global interior fabrics collection. The product showcase is an excellent opportunity for retailers and other potential partners to view our collections. We are excited to hear their feedback and hope this will lead to new business opportunities and also encourage people to visit our stand to see even more of our collections.â
Phillippa Green, account director, Golden Goose, added: âFashion brand Oasis recently launched its first welly range and a new home collection including bedding, throws and cushions will be launched before the end of the year, as part of their ambitious licensing programme. The prints used are just some of the beautiful designs made available for Oasis licensees to select from and not surprisingly each product is bursting with colour, print and happiness. Once launched, Oasisâ licensed products are available in their brand flagship stores (dependent on product line), online and in other retail outlets.
âThe opportunity to be able to display these products at BLEâs Product Showcase is invaluable for brands, because it is a concentrated hit of new and exciting product in one place; giving retailers a chance to visualise product success in their stores, and licensees the opportunity to find new and creative brands to work with.â
Stuart Cox, brand owner, I Like Birds: âWe’re delighted to be part of the product showcase for BLE 2017, especially as Brand Licensing Europe has been such an integral component of our brandâs story.
âThis time last year we were preparing nervously for our appearance in the final of License This!, having been given the opportunity to put our designs in front of a panel of expert judges. One of those judges was Jane Evans and not long after we had signed with JELC as our exclusive global licensing agent.
âWe have since struck for calendars, stationery and kitchen textiles and ceramics and we have more in the pipeline have also just signed an international deal with The Art File that will take our greeting cards worldwide. Our product for the showcase is an example of one of those âpipelinesâ as cushions seem a natural extension for our designs.â
