Keith Haring

A preeminent artist whose work responded to urban culture, Keith Haring rose to international fame during the 1980’s and his stature as an artist and purveyor of popular culture has continued to grow ever since.

He developed a unique visual lexicon whose essential concepts –birth, death, love and war– are  conveyed by the simplest of symbols – energy waves, hearts, glowing babies and antic Everyman figures. Instantly recogni- zable, Haring’s imagery has become a universally acknowledged visual  language of the 20th century.
