Events
That’s right: a live show, featuring Masha, a happy, cheeky, energetic and very high-spirited little girl, and her friend, a big and kindly bear who used to work in a circus, as well as a delightful supporting cast of their many friends, is coming to major cities throughout Italy from October 2015.
Presented under its Italian name of Masha e Orso Live, the family show combines songs, dances and humour, a wonderful cast, superb scenery and state-of-the-art digital technology to tell the touching and exciting story of Masha and her friend’s journey around the world to find Dasha, Tiger, Penguin, Panda and Santa Claus and invite them to Bear’s birthday party.
Masha e Orso Live began its tour on October the 3rd in Salerno at the Teatro Diana in Nocera Inferiore. From there it crosses the country right up until May 2016, visiting a number of major cities including Naples, Bologna, Florence, Trieste and Milan as well as Lugano in Switzerland — more than100 shows in two years. The response to the show has been very strong, with an extra date already added for the Lugano show.
The 70-minute show has been created by Italian licensee EMA srl and will be managed by EMA Eventi. EMA has been a major name in national and international integrated event production since 2006 with a wide range of musicals, operas and concerts to its credit. Its customers include both public and private sector groups.
With a target audience of children aged 3-9, Masha and the Bear was launched in its home market of Russia in 2009. It has since become a huge hit around the world thanks to its winning combination of music, songs, engaging storylines and inventive animation. Strong ratings in Italy have inspired a very successful licensing campaign managed in Italy by Maurizio Distefano Licensing. Masha and the Bear is already one of the top licensed properties on the Italian market. Recent licenses include beachware, bicycles, bicycle accessories, confectionery, markers, colouring sets, umbrellas, bed linen, clocks and watches.
Edoardo Lombard, EMA, says: “Bringing this wonderful TV series to the stage has been a true delight: the characters, the humour and the visual appeal of Masha and the Bear make it ideal for a fast-moving show full of songs, dances and fun that both children and adults will adore.”
Maurizio Distefano, Founder and Director of MD Licensing, adds: “It is clear that the humour, charm and sense of fun that made Masha and the Bear such a hit with kids on TV make it ideal for a stage show. EMA, with a powerful reputation for both creating and staging major shows for all ages, was the perfect choice to bring this delightful show to the Italian stage. We’re sure it will be a massive success.”
