MIFFY heading to Germany

Mercis bv has appointed m4e AG to represent the classic Dick Bruna character and evergreen brand MIFFY in the German-speaking territories.

Höhenkirchen/Munich, June 14, 2016: The German brand management and media company m4e AG will represent all rights of the classic brand “Miffy” in the German-speaking territories. m4e signed an agreement with the brand’s licensor and owner Mercis bv and will help to establish the internationally renowned brand in the German-speaking markets, building on the high but unexploited potential of “Miffy” in these territories.

“We have made the strategic decision to position this classic brand in Germany into more of a lifestyle and infant/toddler brand” explains Jo Daris, Head of Operations at m4e. According to Daris, the brand is attractive to multiple age groups, ranging from infant to adult fashion – with young mothers being gate keepers and multipliers at the same time.

m4e and Mercis already have a long-time trustful partnership regarding TV sales of the various “Miffy” series that successfully aires in more than 70 countries. m4e’s subsidiary Telescreen B.V. also produced “Miffy the Movie” and the classic TV-series for Mercis.

The little white and charming bunny-rabbit named Miffy was created by Dutch author and illustrator Dick Bruna in 1955 and became a huge worldwide licensing success. More than 85 million books have been sold worldwide in more than 50 languages, several TV series and specials as well as an animated family feature film have been produced and broadcast worldwide. The latest addition is the CGI-animated TV series “Miffy’s Adventures. Big and Small”.
