Pokémon hits the Milan runway in fashion collaboration with GCDS

Pokémon has collaborated with luxury Italian streetwear brand GCDS on a capsule collection for both men and women in their new Spring/Summer 2019 collection.

Iconic character Pikachu features on exciting urban apparel and accessories in the collection, which was presented during Milan Fashion Week last week.

The Pokémon/GCDS capsule collections feature a range of Made-In-Italy shoes, bags, and apparel. The men’s collection is adorned with images of Pikachu and its battle moves, while the women’s features Pikachu and Jigglypuff.

The global deal sees the collection made available from January 2019 in GCDS stores and on their website, plus in high-end department stores and selected boutiques worldwide.

The GCDS collaboration is the latest fashion range to feature Pikachu, who is rapidly becoming a top fashion icon after recent collaborations with the likes of Jeremy Scott and H&M. Pikachu looks set to remain high profile over the coming months, with a new video game, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!—along with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!—launching on 16 November exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Featuring many of the intuitive gameplay functions from the hugely popular Pokémon GO mobile game, they are designed for players new to the Pokémon video game world.

24 November sees a limited theatrical release in select territories of the 21st animated Pokémon movie as Ash and Pikachu return to the big screen in Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us. May 2019 sees the start of the global release of the eagerly anticipated first-ever live-action Pokémon film, POKÉMON Detective Pikachu, featuring an all-star cast including Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, and Kathryn Newton, with Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy.

Uncompromisingly bold Made-In-Italy streetwear brand GCDS, aka “God Can’t Destroy Streetwear,” was founded in 2015 by brothers Giuliano and Giordano Calza. A favourite amongst the Insta-famous fashion pack, GCDS has grown into one of the most coveted emerging brands thanks to its ironic graphics, catchy slogans, striking urban styles, and unexpected capsule collaborations, attracting the likes of international influencers such as Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Lil Yachty.
