The Spielwarenmesse ToyAwards get under way

Registration phase starts on 14 September 2019. Awards to be presented at the opening ceremony
Every year, the Spielwarenmesse presents the ToyAwards to particularly outstanding innovations. Considered an important quality mark for both buyers and retailers, the accolade enjoys high levels of prestige across the industry. Companies exhibiting at the 71stSpielwarenmesse (29.1.-2.2.2020) at Nuremberg’s Exhibition Centre can enter their innovations for the ToyAwards from 14 September 2019 onwards.
Presented in five categories
The innovation prize is awarded in four age-specific groups – Baby & Infant (0-3 years), PreSchool (3-6 years), SchoolKids (6-10 years), Teenager & Adults (from 10 years) – and a Startup category which is open to companies that have been trading for five years or less. The appeal of the ToyAwards has never been greater. Last time round, 433 exhibitors entered no fewer than 838 innovations. The closing date for entries is 11 December 2019.
Two-phase selection process
Exhibitors can submit up to three product descriptions in English together with photos and preferably also videos to www.toyaward.com. The jury, comprising market researchers, international sales representatives, scientists and a blogger, narrows down the entries in the digital preliminary round. The jury members judge the descriptions on the basis of the following criteria: potential success at retail, fun factor, accessibility of the product concept and originality. In the second round, the jury of experts nominates three products in each of the five categories at a meeting in the run-up to the Spielwarenmesse. The criteria used in the preliminary round are extended to include workmanship & quality as well as safety. The nominated products will be unveiled at the main Press Conference for the 71st Spielwarenmesse on 23 January 2020. The winners will be announced at the ToyAwards during the Opening Ceremony on 28 January 2020. More details on the jury and entering the competition can be found at www.toyaward.com.
