HKTDC Hong Kong International Licensing Show

The Largest Licensing Show and Conference in Asia

One of the keys to Hong Kong’s role as the licensing hub of Asia is the success of the Hong Kong International Licensing Show (HKILS) and the Asian Licensing Conference (ALC) organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, both are Asia’s largest.

The HKILS, rising as one of the most important shows in global licensing business, provides a one-stop marketplace in the Asia-Pacific region for the international licensing industry. This year, we have had over 290 exhibitors with more than 800 in-demand brands and properties, including the hottest international brand owners and licensors, such as Angry Birds, Candy Crush, Warner Bros., FC Barcelona, Paul Frank, Hallmark Designs etc. which attracted more than 18,000 buyers from over 100 countries and regions. They included around 4,000 mainland buyers looking for licensing properties.

In addition to the character and entertainment licensing, the show also has promoted local home-grown designs through the launch of “Hong Kong Creative Gallery”. The expanded “Art Licensing Zone” showcases numerous licensed merchandise and imageries of renowned art brands, including famous brands like Van Gogh and National Palace Museum. Other thematic zones, including Sports Licensing Zone and Lifestyle & Fashion Pavilion, have also been featured in the show, in hopes of creating diversified opportunities for our various buyers.

While the repeating country pavilions including Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand are bigger in size, Chinese mainland and Italy are the new country pavilions under spotlights.  The first-ever Chinese mainland pavilion, led by The Ministry of Culture (MOC) and supported by regions such as Fujian, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou, in particular, is bringing us more than 60 mainland exhibitors, doubling the number of 2014.

The show has been held concurrently with the Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair (the largest toy fair in Asia), the Hong Kong Baby Products Fair and the Hong Kong International Stationery Fair, which altogether drew nearly 2,900 exhibitors and over 106,000 buyers this year, providing ample opportunities for cross-sector collaboration and partnership.  Our tailor-made business matching services would assist you to meet more potential partners in Asia.

Taking place alongside the Licensing Show, our Asian Licensing Conference, in only its third year, drew more than 1,200 participants with a majority of them from Asia.  Over 30 top-notch speakers from global brands, including Mattel, Ferrari, NBA, Caterpillar, Mind Candy and Iconix, shared their insights and experience with the participants.

There have been dedicated sessions examining market developments on the Chinese mainland, licensing opportunities on fashion, lifestyle, as well as children’s merchandising, and retail licensing promotions in Asia.Speakers from top global brands including 20th Century Fox, PVH, Lamborghini, Andy Warhol, and Chupa Chups will share their success in Asia and inspire you with the new business direction.

HKTDC would assist you

With more than 40 offices around the world, and half of them in Asia, HKTDC would like to invite and assist more overseas properties and brands to find their partners and expand their licensing businesses in the Asian market via Hong Kong.
