BBC Studios is delighted to announce that “Bluey at the Cinema: Let’s Play Chef Collection”, a special compilation of episodes from the beloved animated series Bluey, will make its big screen Italian debut on 18th October at Alice nella Città, the independent and parallel section of the Rome Film Festival dedicated to younger audiences.
Following the premiere, the collection will rollout nationally on the big screen for the first time, allowing even more fans to enjoy the fun of Bluey in cinemas, and offering a new way to experience the episodes featuring Bluey and her family.
Created by Joe Brumm, Bluey is produced by Ludo Studio for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and co-commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios Kids & Family. The hit TV series is distributed internationally by BBC Studios Kids & Family. Since its launch, Bluey has become a global phenomenon, adored by families and fans alike. The premiere screening at Rome’s Alice nella Città festival marks the latest chapter in Bluey’s growing popularity in Italy, where the Emmy® Award-winning series about a lovable, inexhaustible Blue Heeler dog who turns everyday family life into her world of fun has become a firm family favourite.
With Bluey at the Cinema: Let’s Play Chef Collection, Vue Lumière, in partnership with Piece of Magic Entertainment, will bring an exclusive one-hour compilation of eight particularly popular episodes that revolve around the fun of food to cinemas nationwide from 30th October. Each episode showcases memorable moments and the fun and games that Bluey and her family enjoy together, with episodes including Takeaway, Fancy Restaurant, Omelette and Duck Cake.
The compilation of episodes brings families’ favourite small screen characters to the big screen. These will be available at The Space Cinema and other cinema chains across Italy. For more information and to book tickets, visit https://blueycinemacollection.com/
The cinema event, which has already been successfully launched in the United Kingdom & Ireland, Spain, Poland, and is soon to come to Germany, France and Benelux, celebrates BBC Studios’ 2025 global brand theme, “Let’s Play Chef“, and brings the thematically appropriate episodes to the big screen for the first time.
Cecilia Persson, Managing Director of BBC Studios Kids & Family, said, “Families across Italy will soon enjoy the special compilation on the big screen, starting with an exciting premiere at Rome’s Alice nella città festival. We’re thrilled to invite audiences to experience Bluey on the big screen, celebrating the joy, laughter, and love that the series brings to children and parents alike. Bluey fans are at the heart of everything we do, and as the series continues to grow in popularity around the world, bringing Bluey into Italian cinemas is a particularly exciting milestone as we look for new, fun ways to share the fun of Bluey and her family with even more families.”
The “Let’s Play Chef” theme also inspires new product lines from Master Toy Partner Moose Toys, distributed by Rocco Giocattoli. A new range of toys has been released in August, including a Bluey’s Supermarket Playset, a 2-in-1 Food Truck and a Juice Bar. In parallel, the long-awaited LEGO® Bluey sets were released worldwide this summer, both in the LEGO® 4+ and LEGO® DUPLO® lines.
In the TV sector, Bluey ranks as the #2 preschool show for individuals aged 4+ on Rai Yoyo in Italy (Q2 2025)1 and is also airing on DeA Junior and Disney+. The brand’s digital presence is also growing with the local YouTube channel Bluey – Italiano Canale Ufficiale, which has received over 289 million views and 421k subscribers.
Looking to the future, anticipation is growing for Bluey’s first feature film. Earlier this month, BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, in partnership with Ludo Studio, announced that the feature-length Bluey movie will be released in cinemas on August 6th 2027.
