Two New Licensees Join The Black Cab Rank

Bulldog Licensing has announced two new deals for the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) – manufacturer of the globally-famous Black Cab

LEVC is the world’s only producer of the iconic Black Cab, recognised as the hackney carriage vehicle of choice for use in London and around the world. The latest model – the electric TX – retains the unmistakable shape of the classic Black Cab whilst updating to the changing nature of transport. The new eco-friendly vehicles are now carrying customers around the capital – and attracting huge attention from UK and world media in the process.

The new licensing partners are Portfolio Group for stationery and gifting, and Meller Designs for cufflinks.

These deals add to an existing programme that includes Infinity Brands who have recently renewed their agreement for food gift tins, Bioworld International for apparel and accessories, and High Resolution Design for taxi plush. Also, Hornby Hobbies are creating a Taxi Airfix QuickBuild to add to their diecast taxi collection, whilst Oxford Die Cast, Motormax, Sunstar Models and Welly Die Cast have all created die casts of different scales.

In addition, Bulldog is targeting other categories – including toys, games and video games – and would like anyone looking to use images of Black Cabs for commercial purposes, for example in films or video games, to get in touch and discuss rights. The Black Cab is already an enduring movie star, having featured in over 2,000 films over the last 80 years

“The Black Cab is one of the world’s most famous vehicles and it’s a truly iconic brand that everyone knows, both in this country and abroad,” says Bulldog Licensing Executive Sophie Yates. “Licensees are eager to tap into this extraordinary level of brand recognition and so this is a programme that just keeps on growing!”
